Pair of Antique Union Hardware Clamp-On Ice Skates from the early 1900s. These
are marked “Union Hardware Company, Torrington, CT. Size 10.” These were used
by my Father in his youth [he was born in 1909]. They have some surface rust,
which I have not tried to remove – let’s call it “Patina”. The leather is still
flexible and well connected, including the straps. The adjuster screws turn
easily and smoothly, and the clamps both operate properly. These have been
oiled sometime since the 1920s, I imagine. I wouldn’t want to skate on these,
but they could be hung on the wall as a nice bit of Lodge décor. The runners
are about 11’’ long.
